Vedic Mathematics is the ancient form of mathematics invented by the rishis (sages) of India.

The knowledge Vedic Mathematics has been organized by the Maharishi Ved Vayas as four founding Vedas have known today, they are 1. Rig Veda, 2. Yajura Veda, 3. Sama Veda, and No. 4. Atharva Veda. The additional corresponding to each Veda is called upveda they are further classified as four Veda namely, Ayur Veda, Dhahura Veda, Gandharva Veda, and Sthapatya Veda. Out of this, we are going to discuss Sthapatya Veda as it deals with the branches of Science and Technology.

The Possibilities of Vedic mathematics are endless, at it perceives the multi-dimensionality for calculating digit or number whereas the convention mathematic is the linear form for solving mathematical problems.

In this blog, we will learn about the Additions of Vedic mathematics, so let begin with learning the two easiest methods to calculate numbers.

Method 1: Adding number from left to right,

In the method we will learn the calculating number from left to right, so let’s take the first example of calculating two-digit numbers.

69

91

In conventional mathematics, it is calculated as 160

Now let’s now take the approach of Vedic mathematics for calculating 975 added to 657

The calculation method is that you start adding the last number and make that a two-digit number,

. Once you added the last number begin adding the second column and make that as two digits,

With the 2 digits of the 2 columns, add the previous remaining value to this digit.

Finally, add the remaining to the 1st column since it is a single-digit number just add the remaining balance.

Method 2: Ekadhikena Purvena Method.

This is combining the three methods are the fundamentals to the working domain of the Ganita (Mathematics) sutras, they are 1. Ek (One), 2. Edhikena (more than), and 3. Purvena (previous).
